Socrates is the founder and senior partner of Aliant’s member firm in Cyprus. He studied Law in the United Kingdom and has been a practicing lawyer since 2007. He is a member of the Cyprus Bar Association, the Nicosia Bar Association, and the TEP Member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners. His expertise is primarily in International, Commercial, Banking and Corporate Law.
He is currently the legal advisor to over 45 licensed financial institutions, which are regulated by the Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission. He is also a Nominated Advisor (NOMAD) of public companies listed on the Cyprus Stock Exchange. In addition, he sits on the Board of the Cyprus Association of Small Businesses and the Self-Employed with over 2,500 members.
He has considerable experience representing both private and government clients in both local and international cases. Over the last ten years, Socrates has represented the Cyprus government before the European Commission; he has worked with both Russian and German banks, advising on complex corporate structures involving multimillion transactions; and in recent years, due to the changing times, he has had considerable exposure to local and international banks overseeing finance loans and pledge arrangements, and group restructuring.
